The Twilight star admits she "embarrassed" her family.
Looking at Kristen Stewart now - in all her glamorous, composed and hot-boyfriend wielding glory - you’d never guess that her family were once “embarrassed” by her, would you?
Well, forget what you think you know people, because Kristen has revealed that her awkwardness at the beginning of her acting career often left her family red-faced.
KStew found fame at just 13, after starring in thriller Panic Room with Jodie Foster – but admits that she found it difficult to cope with being recognized by the general public.
She told The Radio Times: "People would come up to me when I was eating with my family in a restaurant or something and I would always just curl up into myself in a ridiculous manner.
"My family would be embarrassed and it would be like, 'Kristen, what are you doing? Just be nice and say hello'. And I honestly don't know what my problem was."
"I think it's natural that 13 year olds can be pretty insecure, but what's unnatural about it was that I wasn't insecure. I loved talking to people normally,” added Kristen.
“I was so engaged and outgoing. It's just fame. That's what I had a really hard time with."
KStew, we know where you're coming from. When we were 13 we shaved our eyebrows off by mistake, then tried to draw them back on with a brown felt-tip pen. Try going to school with those babies on your face, then tell us you feel insecure.
The 22-year-old Twilight actress continued to wax lyrical about her awkward teenage years, labelling herself a ‘freak’ and a ‘weirdo’. Jeez Kristen, hard on yourself much?
Speaking about her problem with being in the spotlight, she said: "I was such a freak with all that stuff in the beginning. And that's way everyone thought I was such a weirdo. I was definitely overly self-conscious."
Well, you’ve blossomed in to a lovely young woman now Kristen, so perhaps there’s hope for us all, hey?
