Lea wants to use her heartbreaking experience to inspire others.
We can’t even begin to imagine how difficult the past few months have been for Lea Michele since the tragic death of her on and off screen boyfriend, Cory Monteith. For a long time she stayed hidden away from the media frenzy, but this week Lea has opened up about her struggle to move on, and her determination to move forwards from it.
Cory’s body was found in his hotel room back in July, having overdosed on a fatal cocktail of heroine and alcohol, and Lea revealed to Elle magazine that since the terrible news broke, she’s been trying to decide how best to deal with her tragic loss.
Being the positive and wonderful role model that she is, Lea is keen to make sure that she uses her heartbreaking experiences to show others that the death of a loved one doesn’t mean the end for your own life.
She explained: “Now that I'm in this position, you can choose to rise, which is what I'm going to try to do. It's very hard and you have to be very strong to come out of this alive, but I think by doing the best for myself, by showing that you don't have to lose yourself, maybe someone else will feel some sort of strength or comfort.”
“I know that Cory would want nothing more than for me to take this situation and use it to help people,' she added, before revealing she still hasn’t quite worked it all out. “I don't know if I will. I don't know how.”
Lea also spoke with Elle about how grateful she was for the support she’s received from friends, family and also fans of her and the show which brought her and Cory together, Glee. But one person in particular who she wanted to thank was actress Kate Hudson, who proved a great friend to her.
“I called her and said, I don't know where I'm going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters],' Lea explained. “She was like, ‘Oh, you're going to stay at my house’, like it was nothing.”
We reckon that Lea’s strength is totally inspiring, but what do you think of her attitude towards moving forwards after losing Cory? Isn’t she flippin’ amazing?
