Chris Fountain spills the beans on stalker fans, cheating on his GF and getting it on with his teacher!

Chris Fountain is pretty relaxed. Slouched in a photo studio in North London, munching on a packet of Hula Hoops, he’s chatting about the date he’s going on later and messing around, beating everyone up with pillows and showing off his break-dancing skills. What’s more, he’s honest – “Britney’s overrated and Madonna should give up” being just two of his opinions. But then, he’s only 18. He hasn’t had much time for lying or getting up to no good. Or has he?

"I was bullied”
“The hardest thing I’ve had to overcome is other people’s attitudes to what I do. I’ve always done a lot of music and dancing from a young age, and people used to really nag me saying I was ‘gay’ to try to insult me. I was in a panto once and my entire football team came to watch. It was awful because I had to wear tights. I was like, ‘Mum I can’t wear tights. The football team will go mad!’ A week later they were still like, ‘You were wearing tights. Fountain was wearing tights.’ I got a hard time, but look what’s happened – I’m doing my thing and will end up making loads of money! It’s hard, but you’ve got to try to not let what other people think put you off. Doing this has taught me not to care.”

I’ve been a really bad boyfriend in my time

“Fans stalk me”
“There’s this one fan who’s doing my head in. I’ve been in Hollyoaks for three years now and I swear he’s written me a letter every three weeks. The first letter he sent was just asking for a signed picture and a letter back. I can’t send letters back, as I don’t have time to write to every single person, so I sent him a signed photo instead. Then he wrote back and asked for a letter AGAIN, but this time the writing was a little bit bigger. Even now he keeps on writing, and every time makes the ‘please write me a letter back’ a little bit bigger, and I’m like, ‘No!’ I’m getting a bit sick of him now. I might send him a dead dog.”

“My dad wasn’t around when I was a kid”
“My mum and dad were never really together when I was growing up. When my mates had their dads taking them to football and stuff, I didn’t. But it was never a big issue – I had my mum, my granddad and my mum’s boyfriend – so I never felt I was missing out. My mum is my best friend. She’s the strongest woman I know, and I love her because she opens and reads all my fan mail when I don’t have time to. I think replying is important so she writes things and I sign them! I still don’t see my dad that often. He lives in Spain in the mountains, and there aren’t any nightclubs nearby, so I don’t really fancy it!”

Don’t really want to go over the story, but she was a PE teacher…

“I was bad at school”
“I played a lot of pranks on people at school – like hiding books and swapping science videos with another kind of video that we really shouldn’t discuss. It was hilarious. I wasn’t the worst, though – this one girl tried to burn the school down. The corridor walls were on fire! I came out of the door and was like ‘woah’. It was pretty scary. One way to get out of lessons, I guess.”

“I cheated on my girlfriend”
“I’ve been a really bad boyfriend in my time. The worst thing I ever did was cheat on my girlfriend last year. I was down south on a football trip with the boys. We went out and I met a girl and the obvious happened. The next day I was like ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’ I felt so guilty that when I saw my girlfriend, I told her. I know I shouldn’t have, but I’m an idiot. She dumped me, but we got back together.”

“I’ve broken someone’s heart”
“It was the same girl I cheated on. We’d been together for over a year, but it was hard – she lived in Leeds and I lived in Liverpool – and I couldn’t see her as much as I wanted. It was stressful. Every conversation we had turned into an argument. So a few months ago I finished it. I was upset about it, but she was gutted – it took her a while to get over it. She tried to get me back for months, but even though I was tempted, I said no. I can’t stay with someone just because I don’t want to upset them. Luckily we get on now and still talk.”

“I had a thing with a real teacher”
“When I was 17 I went for a night out with about 12 of my mates and ended up pulling this women. She was 28, which doesn’t sound that bad – it wasn’t like it was a mate of my mum’s or anything – but it was 11 years’ difference. I don’t really want to go over the story, but she was a PE teacher…”
