A purple leather dress can be pretty hard to pull off, but did Sugar cover girl Ashley wear it with more pizazz, or does up-and-coming actress Keke Palmer get your vote?

This purple leather dress by Norwegian designer Elise Øverland is très fashion-forward, but it takes a serious rock chick to make it work (Elise used to design for rock band Aerosmith).

Ashley Tisdale wore the purple dress for last night's MTV Movie Awards.

La Tiz goes bold and accessorises it up with a cool studded belt and some statement heels - can we spot a bit of Sharpay attitude in that pose?

Keke Palmer was first on the scene with the purple leather dress though, and wore it back in March for the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.  She keeps it simple and lets the dress speak for itself with black court shoes and chunky jewellery. 

To get that cool red carpet look, Keke matches her eyeshadow to her dress and adds some bad gal black nail varnish.
