We caught up with the star of the new rom-com 27 Dresses...

She was having a baby as Alison in Knocked Up, delivering babies as Dr Isobel in Grey's Anatomy and now she is a-bridesmaid-longing-to-be-a-bride in the new movie on everyone's lips... 27 Dresses.
Katherine Heigl makes us laugh and makes us cry, she is a natural beauty with an amazing talent and we love her at Sugarscape and can't wait until tomorrow (27 March) to feast our eyes on the new film!
In 27 Dresses Katherine plays Jane, the professional bridesmaid who never gets to walk down the aisle herself, in her new sparkling rom-com. She is in love with her attractive boss – but he falls for her sister, Tess. Jane is sweet natured, bright and beautiful, so why can’t this lovely young woman find true love?

When an attractive but cynical journalist enters her life – he is the last person she would consider as marriage material. Yet he is great company, he’s challenging and he makes her laugh. Could he be the groom to make her a bride?
We caught up with Katherine to talk about kissing her co-stars, how to deal with guys at school and her favourite dress in the movie.
Why did you say ‘I do’ to starring in this film?
I’m a huge romantic comedy fan and this is the first one that I read where I laughed out loud alone in my living room and I really loved the characters.
Who’s the best kisser, James Marsden [Kevin in 27 Dresses] or Seth Rogen [Ben in Knocked Up]?
They were both pretty excellent to be honest though Seth was a very sexy kisser as was Jimmy but I think because Josh [Katherines Hubby] and I were engaged when we were filming 27 Dresses and because Josh would be around sometimes I think it made James feel awkward and like ‘he’s going to beat me up’ but they were both pretty excellent kissers!

You tend to get the cute guys in your films, what advice would you give to the girl that doesn’t get the guy?
I would say the best thing that I always did in school was not to try too hard, I had enough of an ego and enough self-worth that if guys didn’t show interest then I wouldn’t pursue it, I just wasn’t going to put myself in that position – it was too self-deprecating I felt like that I would move on to someone else that was interested, any time you try too hard to get someone’s attention it lessens your value.
Out of all the dresses in the closet in the film, which did you think was the worst?
The worst bridesmaid dress I had to wear wasn’t really a dress it was a bathing suit for the underwater wedding, it was a bathing suit a tutu and then a flowered bathing cap, they were all really unappealing.
What was your favourite scene?
The bar scene was so much fun – I was just dying to see that scene, it was what I was looking forward to when I read the script, we finally shot it towards the end of filming and it was so much fun to do

Do you like to sing?
I love to sing, I cannot sing for my life but I love to karaoke! It’s great when you have a character, if you have to sing well then that would be a problem, but since I didn’t and since it was her be crazy, drunk and off key it was a lot of fun and there was no pressure
Is your own life anywhere near as ordered as Janes?
No, but that is something that I learnt from Jane when I finished is that I would try to have a little bit more organisation being a little more put together like Jane. I’m terrible at planning ahead!

Do you ever feel the pressure to act a certain way and be a good role model?
Certainly to look a certain way otherwise the paps just kill you! If you go out in your pyjamas or something they just crucify you, I have enough of an ego that that is embarrassing for me, if I go out shopping or I know that I might be photographed I try to pull myself together.
As far as being a role model I think I’ve put myself in a position where I’m going to be looked at, I’ve put myself in a position where I’m going to be looked up to and I do think that to some degree to take that seriously but that doesn’t mean I’m without flaws, I have my vices and problems.
Where do you like shopping when you come to London?
I love going to antique stores, with fashion; styles come and go so now I’ve starting investing in furniture, so I go to a quaint antique store in Chelsea, its really awesome there is some amazing stuff there.
In the scale of success you have enjoyed in the last couple of years, has anything changed for you, are people dealing with you slightly differently?
Everything has changed, the level of success, attention, respect, opportunities, people’s reactions and responses, everything has changed – there’s nothing that is remotely the same apart from my friends and family, even my whole wardrobe has changed!!
27 Dresses is out in cinemas nationwide 27 March, don't miss it!
