MTV spokesperson confirms Sophie's exit
MTV's Geordie Shore is at the centre of a race based scandal today, after it was revaled that Sophie Kasaei has been axed from the show for allegedly making a racist comment.
Apparently, producers made the decision to drop Sophie after she was recorded as saying "I hate n******s" during filming for the seventh series of the hit reality series last week.
A source told The Sun said: “Apparently Sophie was caught using the n-word. The show bosses were made aware of what she is alleged to have said and they kicked her off the programme. She is devastated.”
An MTV spokesperson confirmed that after investigating the alleged comment, producers made the decision to ban Sophie from the show - with an official statement reading: “After an incident last week, Sophie Kasaei was removed from Geordie Shore pending further investigation into alleged offensive behaviour.
“MTV and Lime Pictures have now taken the decision that it is inappropriate for Sophie to return to the show. We will be reiterating to the remaining cast members that offensive behaviour will not be tolerated.”
The race row comes just days after fellow castmates Vicky Pattison and Holly Hagan were arrested following a scuffle in a Newcastle nightclub, which left an 18-year-old with facial injuries after she was allegedly smacked in the face with a shoe.
The girls - who denied any wrongdoing - were later released on police bail, but many fans of the show expressed their shock at the incident on twitter.
