It's important to really wash your face as make-up has serious staying power. Use a muslin cloth with a gentle cleansing product and gently rub in circles around the face. Do this twice with relatively hot water, then rinse under cold water and blot the cold cloth on the face to close the skin's pores. This will cleanse and gently exfoliate your skin and leave it spotlessly clean.

Muslin clothes can be expensive but don't be sucked into paying too much! facial skincare brand Eve Lom charges a whopping £12 for three, while at Boots the Sanctuary have a pack of two for £4 - the best bargain cloths are Boots own, which are £5.99 for six.
