We chatted with Californian singer Jason Mraz, to find out about his brand new single and touring with James Blunt...

Fresh over from California, self-confessed awesome guy Jason Mraz caught our ears with his infectious new single I’m Yours. Within seconds of dialling his number we had the singer songwriter all to ourselves for an exclusive chat, and it wasn’t long before we were even saying: “I’m Yours”.

We talked about everything from his days touring with James Blunt, to his amazing Bebo competition and more. He even exclusively told us that he would like to collaborate with Mr Blunt himself.

That’s right, you heard it here first!

Hi Jason!
Is this Sugar? Sweet!

Haha! And have you seen the magazine before?
No but I read Agave often.

Oh right?
It’s an alternative sweetener to sugar; they sell it in the US (laughs).

Ok...What are you up to after this?
I’m back to California for three days and then I’m all over the map after that.

Describe your music in three words?
Fresh, funky and naïve.

I read that you’re a self confessed geek is this true?
I was a self-confessed geek but I’ve changed that now, and now I’m a self-confessed awesome guy!

You toured with James Blunt, how did that come about, were the two of you friends first?
Yeah we were both on the same label and I brought him to the US, and he brought me to the UK. Sort of like a foreign exchange program.

What do you think of his music?
It’s good, he makes good songs.

Would you ever consider doing an official collaboration with him?
I would yeah.

Who would be your dream collaboration if you could choose anyone?
It would be Sinead O’Connor, Anoushka Shankar on the sitar and Michael Franks on the keys.

You’ve got a very cool competition on Bebo where fans can record their own video version of your song…
I just wanted people to make their own version of I’m Yours and make a video out of it. I’ve seen a few already and some are embarrassingly wonderful. Whoever I choose as the winner will join us somewhere in the UK, and we will do the song together at sound check. I might even bring them up in the show but I’m not making any promises yet.

Next up find out about Jason's weird horse fans...
