Chace Crawford is rumoured to be starring in the remake of Footloose, but will Hayden be his leading lady?

Hayden Panettiere has reportedly auditioned for High School Musical director Kenny Ortega's remake of 80s musical Footloose.

Hayden's audition went down pretty well, as an insider revealed: "they were really impressed...no one realized what a good singer she is."

If Hayden gets past the first round (yes, even big celebs still need to audition for roles), then she is likely to have a dance assessment followed by a script reading with Chace himself.  We hope Hayden can stop herself drooling long enough to concentrate on her lines - we know we'd find it hard!

Zac Efron was initially set for the role, but since taking a more serious acting direction, he has distanced himself from the film.

We can't quite imagine chino-clad Nate Archibald leaping around and singing on stage, so Chace will have to be a pretty talented actor to pull it off!
