The alcohol charity launches competition to give you your dream day out...

Recent research conducted by Drinkaware has confirmed the growing concerns that young people today are increasingly turning to alcohol as a means to combat boredom.  In response to this Drinkaware are launching a completely unique competition

 
The Ultimate Day asks entrants aged 16-17 to creatively demonstrate how they would have fun without alcohol by uploading a  video or images of themselves on to www.theultimateday.co.uk website along with an explanation of their ideal day for them and their mates.  

Whether it’s living the life of a rock star for a day, having a celeb-style makeover and photoshoot, or starring in their own movie, it doesn’t matter – if the entry is persuasive enough, it stands a great chance of winning one of the five prizes to make it happen.

The winning entries will be judged by a panel that includes an impartial young person who is under 18 and Drinkaware representatives.

There are also weekly prizes up for grabs on the website such as go-karting, zorbing, football stadium tours, and makeovers available for 13-17 year olds.

TV duo Sam and Mark have got their own ideas for their Ultimate Day out... Mark said:
“I’ve always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon so that would be a real ultimate day for me. I wouldn’t invite my mates though, I’ve got a much better idea…..Even though Katy Perry is in America, my one request would be to ride in the balloon with 10 Katy Perry lookalikes and me! I’d feed them all strawberries as we watched the sun go down from a few hundred feet!”
 
Sam said: "I’d like to take all my friends down to a beach in Newquay, we’d travel down in an old-school VW camper van with loads of surfboards piled on the top. We’d then spend the day surfing in the sunshine with a proper instructor. I trained as a chef so in the evening I would love to cook for everyone. I would like to hire a top chef – someone like Jamie Oliver who I love– to help me make a massive barbeque on the beach for all of my mates.”
 
The competition is open to anyone aged 16-17 (however, the weekly prizes are also available to 13-15 year olds) and there are only three main rules: 1) The day has to be experience-based (so no unlimited shopping sprees!), 2) The day can’t contain anything illegal (so no alcohol!) and 3) It’s got to be all about having fun!

Entrants can upload their entry now at www.theultimateday.co.uk and from 30th July visitors to the site will be able to vote for their favourite entries. The top voted entries will then be judged by ‘The Ultimate Day’ panel, with the winners announced in September. The closing date for the competition is 31st August and terms and conditions will apply.
