Chace Crawford has officially replaced Zac Efron in the remake of Footloose, but who will be his leading laydee?
Chace is set to get on his Sunday shoes and star as rebellious dancing high school student Ren McCormack (originally played by Kevin Bacon).
Former favourite Zac Efron dropped out of the project, as he didn't want to be type-cast as the 'musical guy' and wants to go for more grown-up roles...booo!
But the role of Ren's girlfriend is still up for grabs and rumour has it that Miley Cyrus is in the lead to star opposite Chace.
A source said: "They've expressed interest in Miley for the role" and that "Miley is definitely in the mix." However, Miley may have to join the queue, as Amanda Bynes, Hayden Panettiere and Julianne Hough have all auditioned for the role of Ren's dance partner, Ariel Moore.

Footloose will be directed by High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and is set to begin shooting in March 2010.

Eeep! Love Footloose,Love Chace, yay! Just because 80's films are getting remade doesnt mean anyone's gonna think the original versions are any worse! xx

Why is everyone suddenly remaking classic 80s stuff? The trend of neon has come back, but people are trashing it with the wrong sort of tops, they remade Fame (but I <3 Paul McGill BTW), Flo Rida ruined Round like a Record Baby, and now FOOTLOOSE! What will it be next, Flashdance? Ghostbusters, with teenagers instead? People ripping off awesome bands like Frankie Goes to Hollywood? It's getting silly. Leave the 80s ALONE.

i love footloose the first was really well done though, so i don't know if this will be like a bad rip-off gonna see it anyway though! :D

the original film is BRILLIANT!! i can imagine chace playing the lead but NEVER miley cyrus as the lead girl. she is no where near old enough or experienced enough to play a part like that. i don't think amanda would be right for it either, she's too much of a 'funny girl', and this part is kinda serious. hayden would do well :)
