We caught up with everyone's favourite popsters Alphabeat...

Funky popsters Alphabeat caught our ears with their catchy tune Fascination and from that point onwards we were well and truly fascinated with the fantastic six. After the release of their infectious single 10,000 Nights of Thunder we caught up with Alphabeat pop duo Anders and Stine.

We discovered the real reason why they turned down performing alongside The Spice Girls, as well as what they think about being named the 'biggest Scandinavian band since Abba.'

You're very pop, there are a load of indie bands around at the moment, are you bringing pop back?
Stine: Hopefully we are one of the acts that are bringing pop back. Pop definitely needs to get back the positive vibe. Because there was so much bad pop in the 90's we feel like its been too long. We love pop but we're not doing it to show people.
Anders: It wasn't a mission for us. Pop is coming back and it's just nice that we are part of it.

How have all the indie bands reacted to your music?
Anders: Actually we've played three tours already in the UK we started out in November. When we first started we played random nights with random indie bands and they were all really nice and the bands actually liked our music.
Stine: It's so different from Denmark indie bands would never admit that they like a pop band like us.

Who are your favourite pop stars of all time?
Stine: I think Justin is my favourite.
Anders: Yeah Justin and Madonna.

Describe your music in three words?
Stine: Pop is definitely one of them, personality and colourful.

NME called you the best Scandinavian band since Abba, that's pretty massive! How did you feel when you first heard that?
Stine: We were pretty surprised that NME would even say anything positive about us at all. We didn't expect it for sure, but that's NME they do big words every week. But we're very honored that they like us.
Anders: We all love Abba they've just written some timeless songs...

Are you hoping that your music will live on as long as Abba's has then?
Stine: We're trying to make classic pop music that is universal and will be as good in 10 or 20 years.
