Brit stars turn up for first ever US NME awards

Pete Wentz looked super cute at the first ever NME awards in the US last night.

But we can reveal there is much more to his outfit than a cool fashion statement. Our fave FOBer pictured heresporting a T-shirt with the words "Coltan is a Conflict Diamond" is a way of expressing his opposition toward the selling of diamonds for the purpose of paying for illegal military groups.

And Pete clearly practices what he preaches, telling People magazine at the event that the engagement ring he presented to Ashlee Simpson "is not a conflict diamond." Aw bless.

The Killers were the big winners on the night with two awards for best band and track for Tranquilize, their collaboration with Lou Reed.

Elsewhere The Arctic Monkeys were named best international band at the ceremony in Los Angeles. It really was cool Brits that ruled the night with the fashion pack coming out in force. Kelly O looked hot in this slightly weird hooded number. But we think she wears it well...

Meanwhile Agyness Deyn wasn't very impressed with the Yanks 'tude towards rock n roll. she said: "In London [at the Shockwaves NME Awards in February] it was a bit raw, everyone was smashed, whereas here people were drinking diet coke"
