We all have that one band in our lives that we would be prepared to sacrifice all over music for; one band that we're pretty sure could save the world with their melodies, lyrics, and general attitude towards life.
Even though each of us like to think our connection to the band is on a higher level than everyone else, there are some universal experiences that we all share as a group. Behold, the eight universal struggles of loving a band with your heart and soul.
1. You will never have any money.
From tour merch, to albums, to singles, to concert tickets, you might aswell wave goodbye to any dreams you once had of having savings.
2. You're not open about other music.
Much as you'd like to give other music a chance, it just isn't as good as the stuff your favourite band produces. So, why bother trying?
3. It can make or break your friendships.
Either your friends have the same interest as you and your bond is deepened, or they don't understand your passion and it's something you can't share together.
4. Each album reflects a certain time in your life.
Listening to each of the band's albums reminds you of a certain stage in your life, which can be uplifting, upsetting, or basically really bloody emotional.
5. You'll probably never sleep soundly again.
What if they announce a tour in the middle of the night? What if the video for their singe is released? What if they Beyonce a new album at 3am?
6. You have to face facts that you may never see them live.
Tragic though it may be, there are a load of things that stand between you and the band of your choice; one of those things being location. The chances of your favourite band touring in your tiny little town? Slim to none.
7. You have to deal with people thinking your devotion is creepy.
These people are fools, but there's really not much you can do to argue your point without seeming even crazier.
8. You literally can't, and wouldn't want to, escape them.
For all the negatives, loving your favourite band with your heart and soul is something you didn't have much choice in. And, even if you could, you wouldn't change a thing.
