It was about 567 years in the making, but earlier this week Rihanna *finally* dropped her ANTI album like it wasn't no thang. She did a Beyoncé. Or a One Direction 'Drag Me Down.' And as if loads of new music - including her addictive new Drake collab 'Work' - wasn't exciting enough, the whole thing was FREE OF CHARGE.
Yup - badgalriri chucked the album on the internet and didn't ask us to pay a single penny for it, which was ideal 'cos at the time we hadn't been paid yet and Christmas had happened and stuff. But was it a good idea? Well yeah, 'cos approximately 1 million people downloaded it in just 14 hours.
1 million people using Tidal. Unbelievable.
Being all 'HERE YOU GO, 'AVE THIS,' Rihanna tweeted the link to the album on Wednesday saying: "A gift to my navy! #ANTI is available right now!!!" [sic], and bloody loads of people headed over to Jay-Z's music subscription service to get their ears round it.
Apparently this all happened after the album began streaming on Tidal by mistake that very same day, but all we care about at this point is that it's finally out there and we have new RiRi in our lugholes. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.
What d'ya make of that? Big numbers, eh? Give us a tweet over @sugarscape or drop a comment in the box below, please and a-thank you.
P.S. Peace up, A-town down.
