Demi Lovato has joined Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Kelly Clarkson and more to show her support for Kesha, who has been denied an injunction in her case against Dr Luke.
On Friday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich denied Kesha's request to break her contract with Sony and Dr Luke, the man she is suing for allegedly drugging her and emotionally, mentally and sexually abusing her over the course of ten years.
Though Sony have said she can work with other producers, BuzzFeed reports that her attorney, Mark Geragos, said the label's pledge 'can't be trusted' because they are 'setting her up for failure'. Mark also claims that Sony won't promote her work if she does work with another producer.
Kesha is not alone in this case, with SO many people - celebrities and non-celebs alike - speaking out to support her, using the hashtag #FreeKesha.
Demi has now used her social media to share her thoughts on the matter, tweeting: "Frustrating to see women come forward with their past only to be shot down, not believed & disrespected for their bravery in taking action.
"Happens way too often. I'm ready for women to be taken just as seriously as men..
"Someone tell me why anyone would ever feel brave enough to come forward if they are most likely to be ignored or called a liar?"
She then tweeted about women empowerment and what it means to her, writing: "Women empowerment is speaking up for other women even when it's something uncomfortable to speak up about."
Demi added: "Women empowerment is using your voice to help the voiceless women be heard."
