As fans plans to protest outside their offices

Following weeks of criticism from the celebrity world and fandoms alike following their handling of the Kesha versus Dr Luke case, Sony have finally broken their silence on the controversial contract row.

Despite what seems like the whole world standing up to show their support for Kesha, the music giants have confirmed that they are unable to terminate the contract that stands between the star and her former producer.

A lawyer representing the label, Scott Edelman, told The New York Times: "Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever…

"But Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha."

Despite this news, the statement goes on to insist that the company are trying their best to make the process as painless as possible for Kesha.

"Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party."

If you want to get all technical with the law side of things, Sony is powerless when it comes to terminating the contract between Kesha and Dr Luke as it actually belongs to Dr Luke's own company Kasz Money, which has a separate deal with Sony's RCA/Jive subsidiary.

Following the verdict and Kesha's emotional statement earlier this week, fans are now planning a protest outside of Sony's headquarters in LA this morning.
