What's the deal?
It's been almost five years since Calvin Harris and Rihanna chucked some absolute pop perfection in the form of 'We Found Love' in the direction of our lugholes, and we've been thirsting for them to work together again ever since. Well THE MOMENT HAS ARRIVED, people; 'cos 'This is What You Came For' finally premiered this morning and we're going to talk about it a bit like the journalists we supposedly are.
Now, since their first collab's basically one of the best tracks of the past however-many-years, can their new tune compare? Let's discuss.
Wait, this sounds just like...
Um, a watered-down 'We Found Love'? Are we allowed to say that?
Look, that's not necessarily a disastrous thing. Very few songs manage to give you that properly euphoric feeling 'We Found Love' does; so it's probably a bit unfair to compare 'em. 'This is What You Came For' is still a huge summer smash that'll no doubt be the soundtrack to many a raucous night in Napa for any fellas on their first lads' holiday, so in that sense it does the job tbh.
On the subject of raucous Ayia Napa nights out, it's also catchier than the clap. So yeah.
'Lightning strikes every time she moves.' Sounds quite inconvenient for the girl in question, but a cool power to have nonetheless.
'She's looking at you-ou-ou-you-ou-ou-you-ou-ou' x 2,654. It's just kinda repetitive, y'know? We appreciate a proper chorus.
We'd listen to this...
Getting ready for a night out with 'the girls.' Taking selfies, discussing boys, all that malarky. Basically we'll probably listen to it exclusively Friday 5pm-Sunday 7am.
The song summed up in emojis:
Probably number 1 in every country ever.
What d'ya make of that, then? Loving new Calvin and RiRi? Tweet us over @sugarscape, puhlease.
