Azealia Banks has tried to defend those absolutely vile racist and homophobic comments she directed towards Zayn Malik on her Twitter rant the other day after being dropped from Rinse FM's Born & Bred Festival over the whole thing.
Azealia faced a huge backlash after she accused Zayn of copying her 'Chasing Time' visuals in the 'LIKE I WOULD' music video and attacked him with disgusting racist abuse; and now she reckons it was all because she was 'angry.' Hmm.
After deleting her original tweets, Azealia shared screen grabs of a DM conversation wit London-based blogger Zizzi explaining: "I said what I said to Zayn because I was angry. He felt as if he was too good to acknowledge me yet not to (sic) good to copy my creativity.
"I had to remind him that we're both in the same in this industry and people of colour. By reminding him that no matter what you may think of yourself, the world still sees you as 'other' as they see me."
Azealia also explained her tweets to 14-year-old Disney star Skai Jackson, who became EMBROILED in the whole thing when she jumped to Zayn's defense. She said: "Skai jacksons mom was on the internet tweeting for me...Which is why I went in...I knew it wasn't a 14 year old on there."
Oh, and she concluded: "But obviously I'm insanely f****** talented and have already lowered myself to the levels of ppl who don't even deserve to share the same air I breathe."
This all comes after Hackney-based Rinse FM Born & Bred Festival dropped Azealia from this year's line-up, tweeting: "We have decided to cancel Azealia Banks' headline appearance...[The] festival is a celebration of rave culture and has been created for EVERYONE.
"We celebrate inclusivity and equality." HOORAH.
Thoughts on that, then? Tweet us over @sugarscape after this vid of Zayn's face, please and ta.
