After Beyonce set the world on fire with her fierce, girl power Lemonade lyrics all about a guy who'd been busy with Becky with the good hair, Jay Z seemed to shuffle awkwardly backwards into a dark corner to sit on the naughty step, think about what he'd (allegedly) done and remain quite about the whole thing.
Until now that is. It's finally happened - Jay has responded to Bey's Lemonade claims with his very own rap (Tidal exclusive, obvs), and he's definitely not being subtle about it.
On the remix of Fat Joe's new song "All The Way Up," Jay makes a cameo to rap about Bey's latest album, which is all about a woman dealing with a man's infidelity. Lyrics like: "This is your final warning / You know I give you life / If you try this shit again / You gon' lose your wife," pop up EVERYWHERE.
Jay has kept schtum about all the rumoured marriage drama until now, but with the cheating allegations showing no sign of slowing down, he's used the new track to reference Lemonade directly.
"You know you made it when the fact your marriage made it is worth millions," he raps. "Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is. Survival of the littlest."
Yeah alright, so it doesn't exactly give much away and isn't quite the grovelling apology that we were hoping for (actually, it sounds more braggy than anything), but word on the music scene rekons that it won't be long until we get a whole album from Jay on the matter.
We're quite enjoying the last line of Jay's verdict, too - "We never gonna let the elevator take us down." Aye-ohhhh.
