Bad news for anyone who's been stood on the front barrier at Capital FM's Summertime Ball, holding in a wee for six hours and dreaming of a big burger after waiting all day to see Zayn Malik's debut UK performance.
Zayn has cancelled his hugely anticipated appearance at the show just minutes before he was due to appear on stage, releasing a statement via Instagram which explains that his 'haunting anxiety' is to blame for the last minute ditch.
It was first announced back in April that Zayn had been added to the Summertime Ball lineup (alongside Little Mix, gulp), making the scheduled gig his first ever UK solo performance. So yep, it was kind of a biggie.
But at around 9.20pm this evening, the voice of doom across the loudspeaker announced to a furious crowd that El Maliko would not be performing as planned. AGH.
In an emotional statement released soon after via his Instagram, Zayn admitted that while he feels terrible about the decision, he's been suffering from crippling anxiety over the past few months, and tonight it all just got too much for him to handle.
"I flew into the UK last night to appear in my home country in front of my family, friends, and most importantly by UK fans [sic]," Zayn wrote.
"Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me.
"With the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.
"I cannot apologise enough but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me. I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I've let down today. I know those who suffer with anxiety will understand and I hope those who don't can empathise with my situation."
Feel better soon, Zayn.
