Here at Sugarscape, we quite like One Direction. Alright looking, some quite catchy songs and they all have decent hair. We'd probably go as far as to say we're fans. But one man who definitely isn't a fan of the lads is indie kid Jake Bugg, who thinks they're 'terrible'. Sorry WHAT NOW?
Buggy's been spouting off to Short List magazine about the boys, and it's fair to say he probably won't be on the front row at the Take Me Home tour with an 'I luv Harry Styles 4eva' banner.
Chatting to the mag, Jake asked "''Who the f**k is saying they're the closest thing to rock stars we have these days? Oh, I'm pretty sure they have a good laugh. But it's easy to, isn't it? When you don't have to write any songs."
Er, we'll have you know the lads are credited as songwriters on loads of their tunes, Buggster. But whatever.
He continued "People call them the new Beatles because they broke America, but that don't mean a thing. I mean, One Direction must know that they're terrible.
''They must know...calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it." Yikes. You might wanna undo the top button of your polo shirt, Jakey, things are getting HOT in here.
What do you think? Is Jake just jealous that the boys have gone all hipster-indie-cool and covered Teenage Kicks? Let us know what's going on in that brain of yours. After we've watched the boys dicking about at the BRITs, obviously...
