One Direction fans demand recount after VEVO confirm 'Story of My Life' did *not* break 24 hour record

A load of One Direction fans are up in arms today - yes UP IN ARMS - after VEVO confirmed that the boyband's latest video for 'Story of My Life' didn't break the most views in 24 hours record set by Miley Cyrus.

Directioners are demanding a recount, claiming that the video sharing company didn't count the views properly and accusing them of foul play. Gulp.

VEVO announced earlier today that Miley Cyrus still holds the 24 hour record with her 19.3M views for the very naked 'Wrecking Ball' vid, posting a statement that reads: "#SOMLonVEVO 24hr view count = 12.5 Million! Even bigger than Best Song Ever! Nice one, Directioners! @MileyCyrus holds the 24 views record with 19.3M on #WreckingBall."

Despite 1D beating their own personal record, however, some Directioners aren't happy - and say that not only did the site break, but that the SOML actual view count was 21.7 million.

One Twitter user wrote: "12.5m votes broke VEVO but 19m didn't... Took three days to count 12.5m views but only one day to count 19m."

Oo and err indeed. What do you make of this? Or are you still too busy crying over the moment Zayn hugs his little sister to be that bothered?
