This year's American Music Awards are already set to be a bit of an event what with One Direction and Katy Perry performing and hopefully some sort of lovely reunion between Niall Horan and K-Pez to occur.
But it looks like the 2013 AMAs will be going even bigger thanks to their brand new category titled the Icon Award - and you know what, it's only going to bloody Rihanna. A-WOO.
Yep, it looks like all Rihanna's hard work, incredible tunes and music videos that make us feel slightly uncomfortable when we watch them have finally paid off because she'll be being honoured at this year's ceremony, and we can only imagine the sassy speech she's going to give when she gets the gong.
The ceremony's producer Larry Klein gushed over the star, stating: "The first ever Icon Award was created to honour an artist whose body of work has made a profound influence over pop music on a global level.
"Rihanna's iconic and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and bestselling artists of all time." Yeah, she's 'ite.
We can watch RiRi pick up her award on November 24th when the awards show takes place in good ol' LA. Here's hoping she recreates a face as wonderfully disgusted as when she was at the VMAs:
Incredible. But what do you think of Rihanna receiving the first ever Icon Award? Think she deserves it or is there someone else you think should be picking it up? Comments please...
