When 15-year-old Arsema Dawit was found stabbed to death on 2 June, she became the thirty-first teenager, but the first girl, to have been killed violently in Britain since January.

With knife crime in the news nearly every day we wanted to find out what Sugar Scapers thought about the issue.

The Government has recently launched a campaign to bring home the reality of knife crime to youngsters featuring graphic images of real stab wounds. The campaign was written and designed by young people who had been affected by knife crime themselves and is being distributed on networking sites like bebo.

Sadly it may be too little too late, as Scottish police recently tracked down a large number of teens who’d been boasting about carrying knives and other violent activities on the very same social networking sites.

In London a blitz by police using portable metal detectors found 200 weapons being carried on the streets of the capital within it's first two weeks.

So what do you think? Have you or anyone you know ever carried a knife? What do you think about people who do? Do you feel unsafe because of the seeming increase in knife crime? And what do you think can be done to reduce the amount of teens being stabbed in Britain today?

We’d love to hear your thoughts so add your comments today!
