We caught up with Mike and Tim from the Plain White T's for a chat about Rachel Bilson and their rider!
We caught up with Mike and Tim during a soundcheck at the Camden Roundhouse. Here's what they had to say!
What’s the best thing about the UK?
Tim: Making out…only kidding, we love the people over here, they are far more excited to see live music and they really get into the set and the music we play, rather than constantly thinking about what the person next to them thinks of them. The fans here are more laid back and more excited to be watching us play.
Mike: The shopping, you guys have stores over here that we don’t have in the States so it’s good to look around for cool stuff to buy when we have time
Have you tried our typical British cuisine since you have been here?
Mike: I haven’t ever had fish and chips over here but I have in the States which is kinda weird, Dave is the only one who will try all the local cuisine like black pudding and haggis – that kind of thing.
Tim: For the most part, me and Mikey have found some restaurants that we like here that remind us of American food, we hit Hard Rock several times when we’re here and we like to go to Nando’s and play it safe with food we know we'll like.
Who's your favourite UK artist at the moment?
Mike: We like the Kaiser chiefs, Artic Monkeys and Amy Winehouse
Are you peeved because Amy Winehouse won all the Grammys?
Mike: No, we love her!
Tim: After she performed we sat back and were like ok, her performance for the Grammys completely sold it, she blew me away.
Mike: I’ve seen her play before, her band are awesome and she’s awesome
What did you last download on to your ipod?
Mike: Vampire Weekend, it’s like an indie band from New York
Tim: The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album
Names with T: If you had to be another 'T' who would you be? Jamie T? T Pain? K T Tunstall? Mr.T?
Tim: K T Tunstall is kinda hot isn’t she… but Mr. T would be pretty awesome.
Mike: Mr. T for sure!
Who is the most famous person you've ever met?
Mike: Yoko Ono at the Grammys. We also met Beyonce and Rihanna, but Dave Grohl was the most exciting for us!
What's the most rock and roll thing you've ever done?
Tim: We’re pretty lame when it come’s to being rock and roll, we’ve trashed a few dressing rooms but it tends to really come back and bite you in the ass, it’s really not worth it.
Most expensive thing you last bought?
Tim: Ever since we received our first big pay cheque, which actually wasn’t that long ago, we have been on the road touring so we haven’t had time to spend our money.
Mike: The most expensive thing I have bought was actually a tooth! I got some dental work and it cost $2000 (approx £1000!) but I also bought a bass guitar which was about four hundred bucks.
Tim: I bought a Vespa too, we’re just gaining interest on the money we’ve got in our accounts. We can’t wait to go shopping when we get some free time!
You guys have got a lot of food here, can you tell us what’s on your rider?
Mike: Fruit, cheese – all sorts of cheese like blue stilton, swiss cheese, bread, cereal, humous, chips, beer, vodka, wine and plenty of water
What is your favourite pig-out meal?
Tim: We love greasy horrible fast food when we have hangovers, like MacDonalds and there is a place in Chicago called Portilo’s which is a classic American diner that sells heavy American food.
Mike: Tim likes to go running on a hangover!
Tim: Yeah, if it’s a really bad day with a pounding headache then I can’t do it, but if it’s a day where I feel just like garbage I go for a run, it makes me feel better!
Person you would most like to befriend on Myspace?
Tim: Mick Jagger – cause we’re listening to him now!
Mike: Rachel Bilson!!
Who would you hate to cover one of your songs?
Mike: Rachel Bilson! Hehe, she’s cute but she probably can’t sing!
Who would you love to cover one of your songs?
Mike: Rachel Bilson! She’d get to be here hanging out and we could look at her all day
Have you ever snogged a fan?
Tim: Snogged? What’s that like strangled? Oh kissed…I can neither confirm or deny that I have never ‘snogged’ any fans
What's the first thing you do after a gig?
Mike: Snog fans! Haha, only joking! Well we usually have had a few drinks so by the time we get off stage we are ready to carry on partying!
Check out our video of the soundcheck before the show:
At the end we got all the band together for a special sugarscape giveaway, check out the video here and enter our Plain White T's competition!
