While family release public statement
We were all shocked and saddened when on Saturday July 23rd 2011, we heard the news that Amy Winehouse had passed away.
Her family are obviously distraught and have released a statement to the public asking for some much needed privacy at this awful time.
"Our family has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece," they said.
"She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time."
Amy's Dad, Mitch, flew back from New York upon hearing the news, which he is said to have been told when he landed in the airport as Amy allegedly passed while Mitch was on the plane.
Fans, neighbours and friends have left moving tributes to Amy outside her house in Camden, and a picture of her face was stuck up to the road sign nearby.
Speculation is still circulating as to the cause of her death, with rumours sticking around the 'ecstacy overdose' or 'bad ecstacy tablet' mark. A date for a post-mortem examination will be set later today.
