Is it just us or is this a real-life account of Pezza's Wide Awake video?
Despite all the rumours that we've heard since Katy Perry and Russell Brand announced they were getting divorced, they've always been publicly very quiet on the subject. But with the filming of her reality style movie, Part Of Me, taking place just as her relationship broke down, it sounds like we're about to get a birds eye view of what really went down for the first time.
With her fondness for bubblegum coloured hair and fantastical videos, we often forget that Katy isn't actually a real-life cartoon character, but with the movie on the horizon, Katy spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about why she's decided to keep the more personal parts of her life in the film.
"Honesty has always worked for me," Katy explained. "So if it ain't broke, why f**king fix it?"
While she's decided to keep in all the nitty gritty vulnerabilities, it wasn't an easy decision and she did explain that even two years ago she wouldn't have felt "completely comfortable with people seeing me crying or looking like a hot mess."
With so much going on in private, it's probably not surprising that some of that emotion runs over into Katy's performances and one particular scene in the movie will apparently show a break down moment backstage at a show.
“There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I’m about to go up on that ramp and sing Teenage Dream," Katy explained.
"I had to smack myself across the face and say, 'These problems are my problems, they are not my audience's problems, learn to separate that.' "
We don't know about you but that sounds pretty similar to Katy's video for Wide Awake to us. But what do you think about all this? Are you looking forward to seeing the film?
