Our pick of the festival performances

Foo Fighters, Kasabian and The Cure put on some stonkin' headline shows at Reading and Leeds festivals 2012 this weekend, but our picks of the bunch lay a little further down the bill.

All Time Low, We Are The In Crowd, Paramore, You Me At Six, Florence & The Machine and Green Day were all HUGE highlights for us while we were pretending to not remember that we were standing in something we're *pretty* sure was human poo. If you haven't checked them out yet, let's start with You Me At Six's awesome set at Reading on Friday night.

Later on in the night, Paramore took to the same stage to plough though a glittering set of tracks from All We Know Is Falling right through to Riot and tracks from their Singles Club.

UGH WE LOVE THEM TOO MUCH.

Josh Franceschi tweeted this pic of a Paramore and You Me At Six sandwich later on in the night that we pretty desperately want to be the filling of.

Green Day's 'surprise' performance was probably the worst kept secret the world has ever known, but their set was absolutely blistering. After chin-wagging suggesting they were about to play Dookie from start to finish, Billie Joe Armstrong donned a sailor hat from the crowd and lead us all through tracks from their entire back catalogue, refusing to leave the stage when a security guard tried to usher them off more than a couple of times.

What a legend.

The rest of Saturday's line-up had a hard act to follow, but We Are The In Crowd kept us cheery at the Festival Republic stage, bringing in All Time Low's Ales Gaskarth for Kiss Me Again. Tidy.

Florence and the Machine's set was well and truly p*ssed on by a massive wet sheet of rain for pretty much the entire thing, but her scampering about and belting, effortless vocals kept everyone out in the puddles until the bitter end.

Also, Harry Styles was watching from the side and we wanted to see his face on the big screen.

All Time Low pulled in a HUGE crowd to the main stage on Sunday afternoon, and popped in a cheeky cover of Blink 182's Dammit in between talking about boobs and shagging.

Keep an eye on the site this week for All Time Low and We Are The In Crowd interviews. We'll be honest, we're too tired and covered in mud to transcribe them now.
