All eyes on Taylor Swift at the Country Music Awards...
Taylor Swift has received some criticism in the past for her award show performances. In response to all the haters, she wrote the fiery song 'Mean' on her current album 'Speak Now'. The lyrics include, "Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing/ But all you are is mean/ All you are is mean and a liar and pathetic and alone in life/ And mean". She certainly wanted to make a point.
This weekend at the Country Music Awards, instead of letting the critics get the best of her in typical Taylor 'fearless' style she performed 'Mean'. A huge risk, because if she didn't perform it well then the haters would be able to throw the lyrics back in her face.
Guess what? Her peformance was awesome. Point made.
Taylor performed the song in front of a cute House on the Prairie set which later magically transformed into a city. She worked the stage with confidence, strumming along to her banjo as if she'd be born with it in her grip. She was obviously having a blast looking every inch the country queen in a floaty lace dress, with a thick side plait and cheeky, red lips.
Taylor took home Entertainer of the Year at the awards saying, "This is the first time I’ve ever won this, and I’m losing my mind!" She later added, "The fact that this is from the fans — you are the best thing that has ever, ever happened to me.”
