Well, at least Chris Moyles is smiling...
Harry Styles is pretty much the least offensive person you can come across. That hair, those bowties, the blazers... the nostrils, there’s nothing that cries out: I’M ABOUT TO REALLY OFFEND SOME MASSIVE MEDIA BIGWIGS.
Oh but he did.
When One Direction picked up their BRIT Award for What Makes You Beautiful this week, instead of thanking iTunes and Capital FM whose listeners voted for the winner, Hazza said "a massive thank you to Radio 1", you know - station’s rivals.
Global Radio (who own Capital) bosses were sitting in the audience and according to guardian.co.uk were none too pleased. The boys were due to be on Capital the following day but were cancelled and also put further down on the station’s playlist.
An industry insider told the site: “One Direction as far as Capital are concerned are only going in one direction."
Don’t let Zayn hear he’s a right sensitive soul.
Later on Wednesday the boys apologised in a statement reading: "One Direction forgot to thank the Capital Radio listeners last night when picking up their BRIT Award for Best British Single. This was an oversight as the boys were caught up in the excitement of winning. The band would like take this opportunity to thank Capital Radio and all their listeners for their support and for voting for them."
Nice damage control there lads.
There is one person who’s laughing at this massive gaff - Radio 1’s Chris Moyles, who tweeted: "Best British single voted by listeners to Capital FM, One Direction. Harry Styles said 'a massive thank you to Radio 1' HaHa Nice one!"
What do you make of this diplomatic disaster? Bet Liam Payne gave him a right telling off.
