But she didn't. You go Katy Perry, you go.
Like most of the world, when we heard Katy Perry singing Part Of Me at the 2012 Grammy Awards, we thought that the new lyrics were about her recent divorce from Russell Brand.
The song was written two years ago - closer to her split with Travie McCoy, but didn't get used on her Teenage Dream album.
"I wrote it two years ago, which is funny because everybody is like, 'God, it sounds so current'," Katy told MTV.
"Some people that I work with were like, 'You should just say you wrote it a couple of weeks ago'. I'm like, 'I'm not a douchebag, I'm going to tell the truth'.
"I wrote it two years ago when I was writing and recording Teenage Dream, [but] it didn't feel right on the record."
When she sang it at the Grammys, Katy changed the lyrics 'You can keep the dog / I never liked him anyway' to 'You can keep your diamond ring / It don't mean anything.'
