Twihards will not be happy about these remarks...

It's no secret that Twilight author Stephenie Mayer is a huge fan of British rockers Muse. In fact, she insists their music inspired her writing, meaning all you Twihards out there owe the band a lot.

But it's not a case of mutual admiration between author and band, as it turns out Muse don't count themselves as fans of the greatest vampire saga ever written. Though why not we cannot fathom.

Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme admitted he watched the first Twilight film and "quite enjoyed it" but claimed it isn't really his "cup of tea." That'd explain why the group haven't seen New Moon or Eclipse then.

But it didn't stop the lads from contributing tracks to both films in order to boost their profile in America (and no doubt watch some extra dosh come rolling in!)

Chris told Radio 1 Newsbeat: "I'm not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things but sometimes you've just got to get your music out there in different ways. It's very difficult in America because you don't have anything like Radio 1, nothing is national.

"You have to take every opportunity you get over there and sometimes you have to sell your soul."

Er, we'd hardly compare it to selling your soul! Don't Muse get what an honour it is to be part of the Twilight project? We're sure we could get a band together for the Breaking Dawn soundtrack if they're not up for it. Who's joining us?

But could their refusal to praise the films be down to some misunderstandings when it came to featuring "Neutron Star Collision" in Eclipse?

Chris continued: "When we were in the studio writing it, one minute they said they wanted to use it in the end credits, then they said they wanted to use it in another scene. Then it was another scene and in the end we were like, 'Do what you want with it, we don't care any more.'"

Ever heard the saying, "don't bite the hand that feeds you," boys?

Are you a Muse fan? Should they learn to appreciate the wonder of Twilight if they're going to be involved in any future projects? Comments please!
