Sad news rocks the music world on the eve of the Grammys...
Whitney Houston has died aged 48.
The American singer and actress passed away in the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles, yesterday at around 3.55pm (local time).
Her cause of death is unknown, but police are not treating it as suspicious.
Stars have taken to Twitter to leave their tributes to the late singer.
Justin Bieber posted: "just heard the news. so crazy. One of the GREATEST VOICES EVER just passed. RIP Whitney Houston. My prayers go out to her friends and family"
Rihanna tweeted: "No words! Just tears #DearWhitney"
Katy Perry left the tribute: "So devastating. We will always love you Whitney, R.I.P."
And The Wanted's Max George wrote: "So sad about Whitney Houston.... Beautiful lady with a beautiful voice... R.I.P"
The star was the daughter of Cisse Houston, a gospel singer, the cousin of soul singer Dionne Warwick and Goddaughter of Aretha Franklin. She was married to popstar Bobby Brown for 14 years until 2007 and had an 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
The music industry's biggest night, the Grammy Awards, is due to take place tonight. The ceremony is now expected to be a sombre affair with a tribute to Whitney.
